A lesson in patience...

Last April I bought a little kit to grow tomatoes. Those of you who know me well know that I do NOT have a green thumb and every plant I try to take care of ends up dead. I started my little baby tomatoes from seed on the kitchen windowsill, then moved them to a bigger pot in the dining room to get more sun. From there I planted them outside next to the front porch. I have been tending to them everyday and to my surprise, they stayed alive! Now today, 4 1/2 months after I started growing them, I made my first meal with the tomatoes that I grew! I also grew the basil in the pasta. My husband is always telling me to be patient, and growing a plant from seed definitely helps with that. I didn't give up...and it paid off! :)

New Fabric

I have been working on several new crinkle toys. Take a look around my shop to see them, and keep an eye out...more new patterns are on the way in the next few days! There is even a turkey one coming for Thanksgiving. :)

SALE!!

I am SO in love with my new cotton washcloths that I am having a promotional sale so people can try them at a discounted price. My favorite use for these is at feeding time for the kids...they are so soft that it doesn't hurt their skin when I wipe their little faces and hands, yet they are super absorbant. The holes between the sitches help them to rinse out really easily and dry quickly. I also use them to wash dishes, wipe down counters and to wash my face and body. If you want something even more luxurious, try the organic cotton or the bamboo washcloths. They are great for the environment AND silky soft! These make fabulous gifts too. Remember...Christmas is only 4 months away! Have a great week!

Trip to the Park

We have the cutest little park just minutes away. I thought it would be nice to go this morning before it got too hot...I was wrong...it was already REALLY hot. :) We had fun anyway...

My baby girl is 7 months old today! How time flies...I feel like she was just a little 7 lb 9 oz bundle last week, and now she's only 5 months away from her first birthday party. What a big girl! :)

Welcome!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to read my very first blog post ever!

I always have things I want to share so instead of boring my husband all the time with my excitement over dresses, fabric, yarn, etc...I can post it here where people who are more likely to be interested in those things can read it. ;) I am going to try very hard to keep up with this and keep you all informed with the latest in my Etsy shop...and since I'm a full-time mom too, I'm sure there will be a little about my family in here as well.

My newest additions to The Spotted Elephant are my collections of crocheted cotton washcloths. I have been crocheting for 20 years now (thanks Mom!) and it's such a great stress-reliever for me. Now I can share my creations with the world in something that is very functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. My favorite collection so far has to be the "Bubblegum" collection. What can I say...I am a girly girl! :) The cotton yarn I used for these is made for babies so they are super soft. Ok, that's it for now. Please come back often to check out all of my new goodies! :)
